Bob Dole

Bob Dole (born July 22, 1923 — died December 5, 2021) was an American politician and U.S. Army officer who represented Kansas in the U.S. House (1961–1969) and the U.S. Senate (1969–1996). He served as the Senate Republican leader for the final 11 years of his Senate career, including terms as Senate Majority Leader.
Dole was the Republican nominee for president in 1996 and the vice-presidential nominee in 1976. After leaving office he remained active in public life and was awarded the Congressional Gold Medal in January 2018.
