Davy Crockett (August 17, 1786 – March 6, 1836) was an American frontiersman and politician from Tennessee. He served in the Tennessee state legislature and represented Tennessee in the U.S. House of Representatives, where he opposed many policies of President Andrew Jackson.
After narrowly losing reelection in 1835, Crockett went to Texas and joined the Texas Revolution. He died at the Battle of the Alamo in 1836 and remains a prominent American folk hero.
