Jon Tester (born August 21, 1956) is an American politician and farmer who served as a U.S. senator from Montana from 2007 to 2025. A Democrat, he served in the Montana Senate and was its president.
Tester first won his Senate seat in 2006, defeating incumbent Conrad Burns, and was reelected in 2012 and 2018; he lost his 2024 bid to Tim Sheehy. In the Senate he voted for the Economic Growth, Regulatory Relief, and Consumer Protection Act and supported the Affordable Care Act and the Respect for Marriage Act.
