J. James Exon (August 9, 1921 – June 10, 2005) was an American businessman and Democratic politician who served as Nebraska's 33rd governor from 1971 to 1979 and as a U.S. senator from 1979 to 1997.
Elected governor in 1970 and to the Senate in 1978, Exon won re-election to both offices and was the only Democrat to hold Nebraska's Class 2 Senate seat. He never lost an election during his political career.
